National Impact

Within Pakistan, GIA has established a strong pan-national presence, with initiatives that highlight the unique challenges faced by transgender individuals in different parts of the country. We work tirelessly to influence federal policies that transcend provincial limitations, advocating for a unified approach to transgender rights across Pakistan. A significant milestone in our national advocacy was our decision to challenge the Shariat Court’s verdict against the Transgender Persons Act of 2018 in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. As the only non-profit organization to take this bold step, GIA continues to lead the fight for the legal recognition and protection of transgender rights at the national level. Our work in Pakistan is not just about legal challenges but also about creating a national dialogue that fosters understanding, acceptance, and respect for transgender individuals across all provinces.
