GIA Helpline (Reach to unreached)
GIA has an emergency cell number of activists to provide immediate and free medical, legal, or psychosocial assistance through a referral mechanism in case of an emergency call. Being a deprived community, Transgender living in Karachi have no place to go to in the crises and they are not even willing to go anywhere because of the fear of stigma and discrimination. Based on the nature of the complaint GIA uses a referral mechanism by guiding trans- genders to pertinent organizations such as hospitals, law enforcement mechanisms/departments, and other organizations including local NGOs who are willing to support the community.

Community Centre for transgender community
GIA established a community center in 2009. It’s a residential facility for the Trans-genders. However, it’s aiming to provide home shelters to adults, institutional care is considered to be transient care. This means that the shelter is not only providing them with a permanent address, but it also gives them an opportunity to acquire education and learn vocational skills.
The aim of this center is to be responsible for a holistic psychosocial development of the Transgender. Once they acquire confidence in themselves, we helped them to move out in society as responsible adults and earn their living.
Moreover, community center is also provided care and support to PLHIVs trans-genders by taking care through referral support system with government center to ensure their confirmatory test and timely availability of ARVs only those PLHIVs are taken care of who are belong to far/rural areas and unable to move and reach out to government center.
