Regional Alliances

Our commitment to combating transphobia extends to a regional level, particularly across Asia and the Pacific. GIA is a proud member of the Asia Pacific Transgender Network (APTN), where we engage in advocacy, policy influence, and regional collaboration with like-minded organizations. Our regional focus is deeply rooted in the shared colonial history of South Asia, where the demonization of gender diversity has long been institutionalized. By working with partners across South Asia, GIA addresses the common challenges faced by transgender communities in the region, advocating for rights and recognition while drawing strength from our shared cultural heritage and collective struggle. We believe that by standing together with our regional allies, we can create a more inclusive and affirming environment for gender-diverse individuals across Asia and the Pacific.
